Blue
Ox and Friends take silver at the California State Fair
The Blue
Ox Millworks in collaboration with the Humboldt County Visitors'
Bureau and John Queirolo took home the silver medal for county
display at the 2006 California State Fair. The display focused
around the theme of Humboldt County as a Victorian seaport. It
featured a lighthouse, hand crafted by Eric and the students of
the Blue Ox Millworks Community School. The Visitors' Bureau hopes
that the light house will "guide tourists to the area."
An estimated
1 million people will visit the exhibit. Humboldt is one of 37
counties that entered displays in the fair this year. The county
has won gold in the past but experienced a drought in the mid
1990s when the fair exhibit was cut from the county budget. This
is the second time that Blue Ox Millworks has collaborated on
a State Fair display. Their last display featured Victorian architectural
models and motorized animation. It took home best of show in 1990. |
