We pride ourselves on authenticity. From our blacksmith shop to our historic craftsman's apothecary, from the world's largest collection of moulder knives to our wide assortment of hand planes, Blue Ox is a craftsman's paradise, presided over by a true craftsman. With over forty years of experience, Eric has become a master communicator in the delicate language of wood, and he shares his skills at our living history park. Magnificent redwoods and Victorian architecture welcome visitors to the historic California North Coast (there are more Victorians per capita in Eureka than any other city in the state). In our living history park see America's frontier past come alive. Take one of our tours and watch our craftsmen use antique machinery of the 1800's and early 1900's to do custom woodworking, restoration, print and bind books, blacksmith a nail, or mix stains and varnishes. Meet Babe and Blue, our oxen. Or come take a class at our school where both adults and youth learn about the traditions of the past via hands-on workshops.
